India's most of the population still resides in Rural Areas but the infrastructure provided there is not adequate. Government is trying to attract more development towards rural areas.

In line with the government’s policy of encouraging rural telephony, the Telecom Commission today announced the decision to waive license fee on rural landline telephones. The waiver, amounting to Rs 200 crores per year, also targets to enhance e-governance, by providing more broadband services in villages.

This will sure benefit semi-rural area but how much rural area directly get benefited, time will show.
