Joby Mathew, a Malyali arm wrestler won GOLD medal for India in 29th World Arm Wrestling Championship. Championship held at Hispanico, Spain also saw more medals for India won by A.U. Shajoo, who headed to Spain as captain, he won bronze medal in 95 kg category.

Joby won gold in 52-kg normal category (left arm) and silver medal in 60-kg disabled category (right arm). Joby is orthopedically challenged but still this guy won many medals. Now he is looking for some sponsorship as many time he went qualified for international events but never attended due to financial woes.

Joby, now 31, is the Upper Body Building champion (2002) and has a brown belt in karate. Shajoo too, was a medal-hope since he has been the national-level winner for the past 13 years.

Joby is another example of talent but not properly nurtured because in India people hardly get right encouragement and resources.
