MTS India is throttling bittorrent traffic / p2p traffic

. . . I think MTS has started throttling bit torrent traffic because lately I find that if I try to download something using torrent , speed is very slow, around 10 kbps average but if I download something directly using http then speed goes to 200-300kbps. But sometimes speed is good for torrents for few seconds then again it drops to very low . Then i have no choice but download using http but sometimes large http downloads get corrupted because there is no check like torrent for file health. I mostly download linux related files and those are really big. Is anyone else facing same problem ?

Cool Sure! MTS India is throttling Torrent

I have talked with their customer support just now on 9136955955 and they confirmed that they have restricted the torrent traffic. But their reason was awesome - Govt of India has banned it - ha ha!
I asked them why Govt is not banning it for other ISPs and the customer care guy was silent. I am sure that MTS is doing this so that they can save bandwidth of their so called 40GB unlimited for Rs 999. What a rubbish.
    I have disconnected their connection.

One of my friend also use MTS and he says that use of VPN solves the problem. He says, you can get VPN for Rs. 1500 a year or so and can enjoy full liberty. I think instead of throttling traffic, they should block torrent websites, when people can't find torrent, they can't download it. And should allow legal torrents.
