The most coveted bike from BMW and TVS collaboration, the BMW G 310 R which was supposed to be launched during festive period this year in India is going to see some more delays. As per the the news, BMW and TVS both are now planning to launch it beginning of 2017.
The G 310 R has been designed and developed by BMW Motorrad and it will be made in India by TVS Motors for Indian and export markets and infact it is most affordable bike ever made from BWM. The prices of the bike was recently revealed in UK, starting at 4290 Pounds (approx. 1.8 lakh).
The bike has liquid-cooled, fuel-injected 310cc single-cylinder engine which gives power of 25 kW (34 bhp) at 9500 rpm and a maximum torque of 28 Nm (20 ft/lbs) at 7500 rpm. It comes has rigid tubular steel frame with upside-down fork and long swinging arm for a high degree of ride stability, precise steering response and sound handling. The bike's Tires measures 110/70 R 17 at front and 150/60 R 17 at rear and it comes with high-performance brake system and ABS as standard.
The main highlight of the bike is that it is being developed in Munich by BMW Motorrad – produced in India by cooperation partner TVS Motor Company which will not only bring internationally quality in India through TVS, they will also provide individually tailored optional accessories in the familiar high quality typical of BMW Motorrad.
Once launched in India, it will directly compete with Motorcycles such as KTM Duke 390, Kawasaki Ninja 300, and Yamaha YZF R3 along with the Honda CBR250R and Mahindra Mojo as well.
However, being an international acclaimed brand, BMW should have some impact on customer mindset and if launched with right pricing, it could be a real game changer not only for the company but also for the Indian motorcycling ecosystem.
