The Anti-Corruption Bureau in Telangana seized properties worth Rs 10 Crores from a municipal officer in Hyderabad yesterday.

The ACB conducted raids on A. Santosh Venu’s residence, Asst. City Planner of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and recuperated documents related to his properties from his control.

This came after the Anti-Corruption Bureau unit received a tip-off about the uneven assets acquired by the government officer. A case of uneven assets was filed against the GHMC town planner, posted at Town Planning Sector of GHMC, Hyderabad.

The Anti-corruption Bureau performed similar searches at residences of Venu’s relatives and related in Hyderabad and other areas in Telangana.

Throughout the searches, documents related to 7 flats, one G+3 house, one 3-BHK house, 1 house at city suburb Gudi Malkapur, another flat at Erragadda and one more at Himayat Nagar were found. ACB also seized a Maruti SX4 car, Maruti Swift Dzire car and Suzuki Access bike in the course of raids.

Rs 3.5 lakhs cash, 70 tolas of gold jewellery and bank balances of Rs 4 lakhs were also recovered.

The market price of all the assets was found to be close to Rs 10 crores.

Police had launched an investigation into the case and will produce the accused before the ACB court in Hyderabad.
