Mahindra just launched their XUV700 , from naming, it seems to sit higher than XUV500 but if you see pricing then all current model are quite cheaper than XUV500, Top variant W11 is priced at Rs. 18,77,576 (ex showroom from Mahindra website) and for XUV700 AX5 top variant is priced 149900 (ex showroom) .
So its actually not their fagship model ?

It is not their flagship offering but yet its their latest with newest features like adaptive cruise control, auto high beam etc. and connected features . In my view XUV700 does sit above XUV500 but the main reason of confusion is price, may be they are going to launch more variant in future with higher capacity as currently all variant offered for XUV700 are 5 seater.
Further, I think they may phase out XUV500 as its more than 10 years old now without any major upgrade or they could offer it for a while. If dimensions to be compared, XUV700 is litter bigger than XUV500. The Mahindra XUV700 is built on the new W601 monocoque platform and is larger than the XUV500. The new SUV measures 4695 mm in length, 1890 mm in width, and 1755 mm in height. Comparing to the XUV500, it's 110 mm longer but 30 mm shorter height, while the width is same in both.
If you look , then you will find that Alturas G4 is their costliest vehicle with 4x4 variant costing Rs. 31,77,262 ex showroom. But its not really Mahindra, its Rexton rebadged as Alturas G4.
