After the revolutionary change witnessed in the cabinet ministry which consisted of 82 ministers below the age of 40, its time the UPA government rewrite history books by doing something never happened before in Indian politics. According to sources, veteran Parliamentarian V. Kishore Chandra Deo is the front runner for the post amidst all likelihood of the Lok Sabha getting its first woman Speaker.

Even when all the Congress leaders were barred to speak on the topic, sources admitted that a handful of names were doing the rounds for the prestigious post of the Lok Sabha speaker.

Possible leading names with which the leaders were coming up with time and again include Water Resources minister Meira Kumar and Congress MP from Rajasthan Girija Vyas. Meira Kumar’s case was strengthened as Congress President Sonia Gandhi pitched for her name. She argued that the choice would facilitate the difficult task of enacting the woman’s quota in legislature besides making a statement on the party’s commitment to social empowerment.

Moreover, since the Minister of State for Chemicals & Fertilizers Srikant Jena adamantly refused to join the council of ministers unless he gets an independent control of ministry since he has been a cabinet minister in the past. But, with Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh not in a position to increase the number of cabinet ministers, the only way Jena can come in is if one of the existing ministries is eased out.
