Dear All,

The Andhra Pradesh Govt has issued a notification to change the Kadapa district name to Dr. Y S Rajasekhar reddy district. And has set 30 days to receive any complaints.

“Kadapa is a corruption of Gadapa, meaning the place where our feet fall before we reach the Lord’s abode (Tirumala). If you remove Kadapa, this historical significance will be lost”

I don't understand why they changes name and that too this much long "Dr. Y S Rajasekhar reddy " .. its completely unpractical.

Similar had happened with my area (not city), they changed name to some long name similar to yours, even placed hoardings etc.. but ultimately had to take down as people were comfortable with old and practical name.

They do that because they are in power.

Have anybody noticed, all the so called development projects are named under "Rajiv Gandhi" or "Indra Gandhi."

Doesn't the ppl know how great leaders were they..??

why don't they name it after Subhas Chandra Bose, Ram Prasad Bismil, Chandrashekhar Azad, Veer Savarkar and all the those leaders who helped India to attain Independance.

They change names and after few years nobody will remember the names of freedom fighter and treat many of these corrupt leaders as their role models.

And yes, I really hate such silly / stupid name conversions by Govt. bodies just to satisfy their political needs. I have seen such changes many time and its really unnecessary burden / it costs time and money.. But who cares .. its Govt.'s money.

U know the fact that every Indian is in debt of abt 10,000 per head and our leader are 10,000 times richer..

They use our money for these stupid things.

I do agree. It's a great relief it's not given to all of the state!
