Recently 56th National Film Awards for the Year 2008 were announced. The judges revealed the names of the winners to the Central Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni. The Ministery of Information and Broad Casting (India) presented the list to public. Below are details of winners of 56 National fil awards.

Best feature film: ‘Antaheen’ (Bengali)

Best actor: Upendra Limaye for ‘Jogwa ‘(Marathi)

Best actress: Priyanka Chopra for ‘Fashion’ (Hindi)

Best director: Bala for ‘Naan Kadauul’ (Tamil).

Best cinematography: Antaheen (Bengali)

Best lyrics: Antaheen (Bengali)

Best supporting actress: Kangana Ranaut for ‘Fashion’ (Hindi)

Best supporting actor Arjun Rampal for ‘Rock On’ (Hindi).

Best editing: Firaaq (Hindi)

Best art direction: Firaaq (Hindi)

Best male playback singer award Hariharan for ‘Jogwa’ (Marathi)

Best female playback singer Shreya Ghoshal, ‘Antaheen’(Bengali) and ‘Jogwa’ (Marathi)

Best film on social issues category: ‘Jogwa’ (Marathi)

Best music direction: ‘Jogwa’ (Marathi)

Best popular film: ‘Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!’ (Hindi)

Best film on family values: ‘Little Zizou’ (English, Gujarati)

The best children film: Gubbachigalu (Kannada )

Best Child Actor: Shams Patel for ‘Thanks Maa’ (Hindi).

Best Special Effects: ‘Mumbai Meri Jaan’.

Best Jury Award: ‘Bioscope’ (Malayalam)

Best costume designer: Neeta Lulla for ‘Jodha Akbar’ (Hindi)

Best non-feature film: ’AFSPA 1958’ for the courageous depiction of the non-violent resistance of the people of Manipur

Best Biographical/Historical Reconstruction/Compilation film: Films Division produced ‘The Assassination of Rajiv Gandhi — A Reconstruction’
