DoT ( Department of Telecome ) decided to implement the 11 Digit Mobile Number from 1 Jaunary, 2010. This plan will be implement to all mobile service provider.
DoT has announced this plan because the India's Mobile subscriber are growing day by day and government decided to amend the numbering plan to migrate in 11 Digit Number from current 10 Digit number.
Mobile Subscriber adds 10-14 million mobile subscribers and its continuously increasing. Therefore, DoT DoT has to re-examine plans to accommodate more subscribers. This Plan was formulated in 2003 on a forecast of 50 per cent teledensity by 2030.
The New 11 Digit Plan will be allowed for 750 million telephone connections and this plan will add Digit "9" as existing two-digit PLMN Access Code and it will be identified by the Mobile Country Code (MCC) and Mobile Network Code (MNC).
