Veer: Hindi movie review
Veer(Salman Khan), is the bravest, toughest, and strongest of the Pindaris, who prefer death to dishonour and will fight to their last breath to save their land...their mother. It starts with a bang and you feel the exictment pumping inside seeing the historical touch to the movie. It starts with a war between a tribal community named Pinadari 's and the Madhavgarh people who work for the Britishers. Prithvi (Mithun Chakraborty) from Pinadari community cuts the king of Madhavgarh's (Jackie Shroff) hand during a war for their mother land. Salman looks great , but all the kings and horses and Katrina Kaif lookalikes cannot save the down fall of the movie.
Prithvi (Mithun chakravati) leader of the Pindaries sends both his sons to London so as to be able to learn the language so that they are able to fight them. Both the brothers Veer and Punya (Sohail Khan) reach London and Veer meets Yashodara (Zarine Khan) and falls in love with her. She incidentally studies in the same collage as him and comes to know that she is the daughter of Kind Madavghar (Jacie Shroff). Prithvi wants Veer to get her at any cost leading to a big war between the communities and killing thousands in the process.
The story starts with a promise of giving glimpse of the historic era and the time when the British were capturing India with their divide and rule policy and how the nawabs and other kinds were falling prey to them. Then it shows the brave tribe that will not give in to the British and a rivalry between the natives and also a love story in the process. Reading a mills and boon would have been a better option as the director loses the movie half way and you simply wait for it to come to an end. Granted the film has chances of survival and would have done well, but somehow they simply made it into a masala khichdi without salt and served it to the people, how will you eat it? Similarly the movie to lacks taste, which the enormous set or star power of Salman might just not be able to save and Zarine Khan also known as Katrina’s lookalike looks chubby and a bit on the heavier side. Katrina has a different charm which this girl can’t match. Period. Mithun is okay, while Jackie does his bit well. Sohail Khan irritates.
Veer - an epic saga of bravery and drama, treachery and love...
Verdict : The movie may have star power, but that alone will not be able to keep the viewers glued to the chairs . The movie is just not worth the time, money or patience required to sit through it.
