HP is better product as compare to others ..
Bad service and Quality problem happens in rare cases.. Many of My friends having HP laptop but till date no body has complaint.
And even they suggest me and other to Buy a HP product.
* Everyone owns a corporate Note book. which starts from the range of 40,000 +
* Hp comes with two kinds of Notebooks 1) Consumer and 2) Corporate.
Apart of budget, you have not mentioned your requirements ie. type of your computing / usages.
Anyways, for budget and value for money, go for ACER, but if you need to show off then go for Dell and Sony VIO .. can even consider macbook if you can raise your budget but Sony and MAC both are very costly.
HP / Compaq is falls in mid range , cant' really comment on it.
The HP dv6 on the AMD platform is a good option. If you want portability, then go for the dv2 which is an ultrathin but is highly powerful.
