How to overcome worry
This is a continuation to the blog article”What worry does to you”. Kindly refer to it for better understanding of this one.
By now we all know that worrying is just not suiting us, mentally, physically or in any other way. When we know that something is not working for us then we try to change it. Here are a few tips to get you started:
1. [i]Write down your worries and all the possible solutions that may be there to it.[/i]
For eg. Say there is a work related problem, pen down the problem and also what ever solution that is there for it. Then see if those solutions you have written will work and how. You will see how fast this method works and also brings in the desired results.
Now there are many other types of situations in our life as well, the basic one being a fight between two friends, or typical in-law problems and some related to the matters of the heart. The above method works for them as well, but when you have been in a fight, you tend to recall the incident time and time again and also imagine a lot of other things that might never happen. Here the best way would be for you to write down the whole episode that has left you angry, frustrated, or stressed. Write it down in great detail, however do not go through it once you have completed the writing. Destroy it and tell yourself it is over and done with. This way you release the pent up feelings in you, which if not released can lead to diseases like high blood pressure, heart attack and cancer. This is because you store up years of resentment in your body. What else will hatred add upto?
2. As you know imagination is god given gift provided it is positive and self made hell if negative. So how will you make your imagination work for you?
Simple really, when ever you have a negative thought enter your mind PINCH YOUR SELF.
Yes that’s right pinch yourself nice and strong.( Here you give your subconscious the message that this thought is painful and likewise your mind would avoid it. Practice it for a few days, it really works.) replace that limiting thought with a positive one for eg. You have been thinking that you will fail an exam, pinch yourself and at the same time see that you are passing with flying colors and all your friends are congratulating you. Here you take the focus away from the bad and centre it on the good.
3. Deep breathing. Start breathing slowly, very slowly inhale and exhale. Immediate calmness will come over you.
4. The last but most important, ask the almighty for help.
Think that whatever happens is for your benefit and thank him for the same. 'To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did.' When God takes something from your grasp, He's not punishing you, but merely opening your hands to receive something better. Concentrate on this sentence... 'The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you'
There comes a point in your life when you realize:
Who matters,
Who never did,
Who won't anymore...
And who always will.
So, don't worry about people from your past,
there's a reason why they didn't make it to your future.
