This festival is a grand assembly of Gods and Goddesses in and around Thrissur. The festival takes place in the Vadakumnathan temple premises where caparisoned elephants are accompanied by grand assemblies of Chenda mela and pancha vadyam (drums and other instruments). The elephants look majestic and the whole setup is a treat to watch. The processions and rituals go on continuously for 36 hours without stopping. A spectacular show of fireworks takes place during this festival.
