Gold dipped slightly on Wednesday but held near an 11-month high, as uncertainty over Spain’s bailout plan kept investors on their toes while they wait for a key U.S. job market report expected to show the effectiveness of the latest stimulus.

Gold extended gains on Friday, holding near an 11-month high hit in the prior session as the European Central Bank said it was ready to buy bonds to help the bloc’s debt-laden nations, boosting bullion’s appeal as a hedge against inflation.

Gold hovered just above $1,760 an ounce on Wednesday after three straight sessions of losses, as a murky outlook for global growth buoyed the dollar and pressured bullion.

Gold nudged lower on Thursday, on course for its fifth straight day of losses as gloom over the euro zone’s debt crisis supported the dollar, weighing on bullion.
SPOT GOLD
Spot gold inched down 0.2 percent to $1,759.19.
OIL
Brent crude futures eased on Wednesday in choppy trading as concerns about slowing economic growth hit Wall Street equities and pulled oil lower, after prices had received an early lift from tension in the Middle East.
BRENT CRUDE
Brent November crude fell 17 cents, or 0.15 percent, to settle at $114.33 a barrel.
U.S.CRUDE
U.S. crude edged up 34 cents to $91.59.
