Honda Cars India Ltd has today rolled out a new top-end variant of its popular hatchback, Brio. Tagged as Honda Brio VX, the new variant is being offered in both manual and automatic guise. The Honda Brio VX MT has been launched at Rs 5.34 lakh, while the Honda Brio VX AT will retail at Rs 6.12 lakh.
The Brio VX will continue to be powered by the 1.2 litre petrol engine putting out 86 bhp of power and 110 Nm of torque. The safety package on the Brio S trim is no longer available, whereas Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and airbags is not a standard anymore on the Brio V variant.
Expressing his opinion on the importance of Brio model for the company, Jnaneswar Sen, Senior Vice President (VP), Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India Limited, was quoted as saying, “The Brio is a significant model for Honda in India as the car added more than 32,000 customers in the last fiscal year. It is our constant endeavour to study customers’ needs and aspirations and introduce features that enhance the overall ownership experience. We are pleased to announce upgrades to the Brio with added comfort and convenience in its segment which will appeal to the customers.”
The other feature addition the Brio is likely to get is a height adjustable driver’s seat – something that shorter drivers would find useful, as the Brio has a fairly high dashboard and steering position. It will also have more premium seat upholstery fabric. Other features that the Brio VX will come with include front fog lamps, alloy wheels, integrated stereo with USB and Aux-in, but no CD player, steering audio controls, power mirrors, windows, central locking and keyless entry. Honda may also consider adding a sports kit to the VX variant (with skirts) to differentiate it from the V variant, in the same way that Toyota does with its V and VX variants of the Toyota Etios.
