I am planning to port out from TATA docomo to BSNL because TATA docomo has stopped all GPRS plan in my area and they think they are smart so I am going for portability and I think bsnl will be best as now they don't have too many customer and their plans for gprs are fine.

But what is the process ?

For MNP, you need to have a photo state of your ID card along with a photo of the person by whose name SIM is registered. Take all these documents to the any shop who is doing recharge and mobile works. This whole process of Number Portability in India , your SIM will get port after 7 days and the phone will get automatically switch off for 3 to 4 hours on the last day.
