Indian shares climbed 0.3 percent in early trade on Wednesday and were trading at their highest level since February 2008, mirroring the rise in Asia and on hopes of higher corporate earnings for the December quarter.
At 9:02 a.m. (0332 GMT), the 30-share BSE index .BSESN was up 0.34 percent at 17,745.96 points, with 21 components advancing.
The 50-share NSE Index .NSEI was up 0.4 percent at 5,296.75.
