Looking to update your Aadhaar card photo? A step-by-step guide to do it online.

The Aadhaar Scheme was introduced in India on September 29, 2010, making it a widely used identity proof for over 13 years. An Aadhaar card contains essential information like biometrics, photos, address, email, phone number, and more, enabling UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) to establish and maintain an individual's identity. These details are used for accessing various services, including government schemes and college applications. It is strongly recommended to update your Aadhaar information annually to ensure its accuracy.

In particular, if you haven't updated your Aadhaar photo in a long time, especially since your initial application, it's essential to consider doing so. UIDAI mandates that individuals over the age of 15 must update their Aadhaar details, including their photograph. If you fall into this category and wish to update your Aadhaar photo, here's a step-by-step guide to assist you in this process.

Before proceeding with the photo update, please note that UIDAI permits Aadhaar holders to update their demographic information online, such as name, address, date of birth, gender, mobile number, and email. However, for online updates of biometric details, including fingerprints, iris, and photographs, you must visit the nearest Aadhaar enrollment center, undergo biometric verification, and pay a minimal service charge.

Here are the steps to update your Aadhaar photo:

1 Visit the official UIDAI website at uidai.gov.in.
2 Download the Aadhar enrollment form from the website or obtain it from the nearest Aadhar Sewa Kendra or Aadhaar Enrollment Center.
3 Complete the necessary details in the enrollment form.
4 Submit the filled form to the nearest Aadhar Sewa Kendra or Aadhar Enrollment Center. You can locate the nearest center using this link: appointments.uidai.gov.in.
5 An Aadhar executive at the center will verify all the information through biometric verification.
6 The executive will then capture a new photograph to be updated in your Aadhar card.
7 A service fee of Rs. 100 plus GST will be charged for this update.
8 You will receive an acknowledgment slip and an Update Request Number (URN), which can be used to track the status of your updates on the UIDAI website.
