Hindi Movie Heroes ReviewSamir Karnik's another movie after Kyun ho gaya na and Nanhe Jaisalmer, these previous were not much impressive on box office but this time with Heroes, he seems to gain some ground. Big names are there in the movie which includes Salman Khan, Sunny Deol, Mithun Chakroborthy as well as other famous names which includes Bobby Deol, Dino Morea, Preety Zinta, Soahail Khan and Vatsal Seth. With so many names its obvious that it will not require a second thought if you want to enjoy your this weekend in Cinema theater.
The movie boasts about people in uniform and looked like a war / battle movie from promos but in real this movie is a war of emotions. Revolving around two boys (Sohail and Vatsal) who are on journey to find reason for aversion of today's youth from defense services who happens to encounter few undelivered letters from dead soldiers of Kargil war. These letters unfold the misery and pain that their families had to go through during and after the war.
These stories talks about the pain of the family of the soldiers and clearly affects the thinking of the two boys. Question get complicated that what is important.. family or country ? The execution of movie is in parts talking about different stories. While at directors disposal he had a capable starcast, movie failed to deliver the perfect prosecution.
The story which talks about Salman Khan and Preety Zinta from Punjab is a surprise package. Prior to release of movie, we all knew that Salman is in role of sikh but after watching it looked that Salman performed very well and ofcourse if you are Salman fan then you will find your paisa wasool with this part of film. On the other hand Preety Zinta is pleasure to watch with her fluent Panjabi in the movie.
The other part deal with Deol brothers, this second part is not impressive as the first part and seems that director wanted to cash the Sunny Deol type fighting and style. You will find again Sunny Deol beating up lots of bad guys all alone. I guess, could have been plus point if movie was released a decade ago.
Third part deals with relation of a father and a son played by Mithun and Dino. Appears to be the weakest part, looked over stretched, though the father son conflict could have been effective but its ending was not well on execution.
As said earlier, the movie is about emotions but it did arouse feeling of patriotism and above all it is a noticeable effort to talk about the pain suffered by family of soldiers. At times movie got boring and looked stretched. I bet movie would have been more effective if they had done better editing. Overall, a remarkable approach but not fully utilized. This movie makes one time watch. Script lags behind at places. Songs are decent. Performance wise, as said Salman and Preety stand apart and Mithun leaves a matured impression, while Riya sen is wasted. Bobby Deol looked OK, aging Sunny manages to imprint the marks, Vatsal Seth and Sohail are good at performance but Sohail looked odd as a college going student, not a good pair though. Direction is not consistent and director seems to care lot about the positions of actors which is clearly visible in Sunny-Boby sequences.
Overall an average movie but few outstanding performance. Watchable and paisa almost vasool if you happen to be fan either of Sunny, Salman or Preety...
I give it 2.5/5
