Tata is launching on this Monday ie. 23rd March 2009. The world's cheapest car is likely to set another record with its booking starting today on Monday. The car will be launched in huge ceremony where from BBC to CNN everybody would storm Mumbai on March 23rd. Over a thousand guests and over 100 media companies are likely be present for the mega show and the preparations are in full swing. Tata Motors is likely to spend more than Rs 1.5 -2 crore for the launch.
Now about the another milestone, the Tata Nano is expected to get 10 lakh car bookings in less than 1 months of its initial launching. The booking price for TATA Nano is Rs. 2,999 and a booking form for Rs. 300 but that doesn't guarantee that you can grab TATA Nano for sure. You may need to wait for long as the production of TATA Nano will be restricted to 3000 to 4000 unit a month until the new Plant at Sanand becomes functional.
Tatas had to postpone the launch of the car as the originally planned manufacturing base at Singur in West Bengal fell flat after a huge initial investment following Trinamool Congress triggered protest over the land allocation issue, hitting hard the farmers. The plant at Sanand, near Ahmedabad, is located on about 1,100 acres, and will have an initial capacity of 250,000 units, which can be expanded to up to 500,000 cars per year.
Initial production would be out of Tata Motors plants at Pantnagar in Uttranchal and Pune. The company said it will take at least a year to complete the new factory, and until then, Tata will only be able to produce a limited number of Nanos from its other car plants in India.
Tata said that they will allot TATA Nano car lottery basis as of now so you may have to wait for long to get your Nano. So in Short, even if you want to buy it, you need to be lucky. Booking of TATA Nano can be done through select State Bank of India branches as well through TATA dealers across the country.
