Movie Review - Hindi - Sorry Bhai
Sorry bhai, from Onir is a surprise if you remember his previous movies like My Brother.. Nikhil and Bas ek Pal. Sorry Bhai, choosing a subject which is not even digestible for most of the India is a surprise move indeed. However the subject is interesting but there is not much from the movie to show.
This time Onir works on a distinctive subject or a different subject. This is a love triangle but a bit different. The subject already defines whole movie but still a lot can be done but after watching movie you will feel that the movie did not justify the subject. Movie revolves around the situation and emotion which are mostly unheard and rarely seen. A Brother in love of sister in law. A mother who is suspicious and acting as spy and the brother whose fiance is no more her fiance but fiance of his brother.
Sanjay Suri as Harsh who lives in Mauritius has found his love of life as Aliyah (Chitrangda Singh) and all set to marry her. He calls back home giving the good news but her mother (Shabana Aazmi) do not favour this. However, his brother Siddhartha Mathur(Sharman Joshi) takes the responsibility to bring the family to the Mauritius for marriage ceremony. Harsha is busy with his work so while the family give visit to his place, now its his fiance who take the responsibility to take care, while still the mother is not in favour of the marriage. Aliyah make sures that Harsha's family feel at home here in Mauritius, for this Sidhhartha helps her, however all this makes them attracted to each other.
Aliyah, felt dejected by Harsha because of his priority to work find her love shifting towards Sidhhartha, she realize that her real love is Sidhhartha and she is now all committed for it. Sidhhartha now in dilemma, also found himself gradually getting attracted to Aliyah too.
On the other hand, we have suspicious Mom (Shabana Azmi) who find something fishy between Aliyah and Sidhhartha. Her act is pleasure to watch. Note, here Onir tried to exploit the charm of Shabana - Boman Irani due from Honeymoon Travels ... Here too, the act from both is noticeable and the couple look very much into each other and a nice chemistry on screen.
However, as said the movie is with a surprising subject but unsurprisingly, this will cater only a fraction of masses. A single line story leaves not much twist to surprise us but there is ample of space for putting together a nice drama. However, movie looked natural most of the time but there are instances where it looks completely build up. With slow pace but with some noticeable moment this movie not worth to spend your money in theater, you may wait for DVD version though.
Overall, looked like that Onir got confused that how to sum up the things towards conclusion, otherwise could have been treat to watch. Performance wise, Shabana and Boman stands apart. There act is almost like a parallel story going on and both complements each other. Sharman Joshi as scientist (Sidhhartha) in this serious role took some time to digest other wise his face just reminds of comedy and comedy. His performance is justifying to his role. Sidhhartha Suri or blame it on Onir, he looked plastic in expressions with his limited exposure. Chitrangda Singh as Aliah can be said average, she need to polish her acting skill. Songs of the movie can be matter of choice. Overall average. Movie may have some better editing. I think now its time to go for shorter length movie if you lack in providing thorough entertainment.
Movie can be little below than average as it failed to entertain throughout and above all, it disappoints as nothing much is served. Failed to connect to audience.
I rate it 2/5
