DE DHANA DHAN : HINDI MOVIE REVIEW
Directed by ace director Priyadarshan, De Dhana Dhan is a comedy flick and promises laughter in abundance. It has a hilarious mix of characters and yet manages to get it right.
It’s a story about Nitin (Akshay Kumar) who is a all in one kind of a person , acting like a butler, cook, driver, watchman, gardener to a wealthy female industrialist (Archana Puran Singh) in Singapore. He desperately wants to become rich and marry the love of his life Anjali (Katrina Kaif), who supports him financially. Then comes the character of Ram (Sunil Shetty) who is Nitin’s best friend and has high hopes of becoming rich in Singapore but gets stuck with the job of a courier delivery man. He falls for a rich man’s daughter Manpreet (Sameera Reddy) and naturally her parents are against the marriage until and unless he has lots and lots and lots of money. During all this drama enters Paresh rawal as ashrewd businessman, ‘Harbans’ who wants Manpreet to get married to his son played by Chunky Pande in order to get a large dowry, status and rid of his debtors. So what happens now!
The two men in love are given an ultimatum by their girlfriends and under pressure they decide to do a kidnapping act which somehow gets out of control and they land up staying at the hotel where even Manpreet is to be wed. Now enters a bunch of characters including a Chinese Don [Asrani], a hired assassin [Johny Lever], a ACB police inspector [Sharat Saxena], a club dancer [Neha Dhupia], an ambassador [Vikram Gokhale], a young frustrated double crossing wife [Aditi Govitrikar], a letch [Shakti Kapoor], a drunken waiter [Rajpal Yadav] and a dead body nobody wants to check into the hotel.
What follows is a series of misunderstandings and fights. There are some moments in the film where you will fall from the chair of laughter, but other than that the film is an okay to watch.The last scene of the movie where the whole hotel is flooded is worth watching. The story line is thin overall but the immediate part (about 60 minutes) after the interval is simply mind blowing. The music by Pritam is okay “Paisa Paisa” being the only track worth mentioning. The dialogues by Jay master add up to the presence of the film and the acting by Akshay and Sunil shetty is refined. Katrina nad Sameera don’t have anything special to do. Paresh is a natural actor and so are Johny Lever, Neha Dhupia, Manoj Joshi, Asrani, Vikram Gokhale and Archana Puransingh who deserve a special mention.
It’s a film that one can watch to spend their time. Much expectations should not be made on the film.
