    BJP's dilemma

    Advert.
UP municipal election results once again revealed congress party's inability to win in the state. BJP has reasons to smile but should not forget that this was the only party (other than congress) that contested. SP and BSP did not dare to face urban voter within four months and congress does not have base in UP. This led to BJP victory without making any effort for the same.
With similar attitude at national level BJP can not think of winning election 2014. Leaders of BIP parliamentary party are capable of winning their own elections but their capacity to lead the party to the power is doubtful. The leader who can change the game in favor of BJP is not acceptable to many in central leadership.
Narendra Modi's raising popularity graph in urban middle class and upper caste and increasing support base is worrying many in political circles but for BJP it is a dilemma. If Modi comes to central politics hewill be capable to win party's lost support once again and lead BJP led NDA to power, on other hand he might cause troubles for NDA as some of its allies may leave NDA as is indicated by JDU.
There is long time for discussions but possibilities of Narendra Modi has shaken many in politics.

BJP became a majority party only when there was shift in paradigm in Indian politics after 1992 riots, everyone knows every now and then BJP tried to make religion their tool to gain power but failed. Remember Varun Gandhi and his statements (see article from TIME.com India's Dynastic Feud: A Gandhi Who Hates Muslims - TIME ) , also if you see remarks from Modi from last many years in newspapers etc. do you think he is a secular leader , before question on Modi, do you think BJP is a secular party ? Recent failure of congress in Govt may have given strength to BJP but that doesn't mean that Indian masses (specially non-secular) are supporting BJP.

BJP's secularism is based on fundamentalism therefore, you can understand how much secular BJP is, but other parties' secularism is also selective and this problem of defining secularism as per own requirements has created confusion among Indian people. So far as masses are concerned they understand more than they explain.
