Today's edition of Economic Times carry an interview with Mr Nusli Wadia, Chairman of Bombay Dyeing. Here is an extracyt from that interview. Mr Wadia's comments about Indian government bureaucrats.

[size=10pt]" You know, when I was in Vajpayee's advisory group, I remember Ratan Tata and I did two reports... one was on food and agriculture and food distribution, and I think the government implemented that, and the other one was on this whole issue of how do we unshackle India.

Of course, that report went into some dusty corner and never saw the light of the day. There are a thousand archaic laws in this country. Now, there are thousands of laws that are administered—things start with a 'no' and then become 'yes'. You take away the thousand no's and then things happen. People don't want to dismantle that. (Because) they lose their means of livelihood or means of power. "
