I am using this plan BSNL 1350 UL plan which gives 512kbps speed. Howvere when i dowload a file the maximum speed it shows varies between 40kbps-60kbps. its seems BSNL a 512kbps plan, but the download rate is only average of 50kbps. Is there anyone else who is using the same plan from BSNL

Anythin above 40 kb/s is good for your plan. Unlike home 250 plan,where you get hi speeds of 1.6~1.8 mb/s. Bsnl is putting a speed limit on all of its unlimited plans. Speed limit for your plan is 512kb/s.
I hope you know that one byte is 8 bits. And by the math,we get 64KB/S of speed in your connection. Please notice the difference between kb and KB!

using 512kb/s connection doesn't mean u'll get 512 kbps download speed it's ur connection speed and i think ur getting a good speed coz mine is 2mbps connection and i get speed between 20kbps-170kbps(90kbps avg).
so nothing to worry if u want higher speeds swith to 2mbps connection.
