Tata Nano, one of the most ambitious project worldwide for small car has big plan to launch various version of this car. as per the news in the auto industry, the small diesel engine will have fuel injection systems developed by Bosch, but the rest of the platform is being developed by Tata Motors and FEV.
Tata Motors, who showcased the Nano with 623cc MPFI petrol engine, has already announced TATA Nano to have diesel as well as hybrid versions too. For diesel variant, the car will sport the world’s first 800 cc, turbo charged, CRDi diesel engine. The diesel Nano will probably out in 2009. While Bosch is working on the CRDi system for the Nano, Honeywell Turbo India is working on the turbo charger.
FEV is an independent engine and powertrain systems research, design and development company, headquartered in Aachen, Germany. It is said that 800cc diesel engine will be 30% more efficient than any current 800cc petrol car engines. And will be even 40% efficient than current smallest available diesel engine in India.
