Now SMS Service Available in 22 Official Languages.
IIT Madras researchers and professor has found a solution for those who want to send SMS in their own mother languages like Tamil, Marathi or Assamese but also convert scripts keyed in one language into another.
The researchers and professor found the solution at the Center for Excellence in Wireless Technology (CEWiT) have successfully been able to develop a 7-bit encoding scheme for 22 Indian languages.
The 7 Bit encoding scheme allow user to type 160 characters per SMS. and But 7 bit encoding scheme allow 70 character per SMS in Local language.
This Technology is approved approved by 3rd Generation Partnership Project and will be adopted by all the network operators, mobile manufacturers and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.
