Reliance is planning to provide fourth generation(4G) mobile broadband services by year end. These services will be provided on attractively priced Rs.3500 tablets. The company has earlier planned to launch 4g services on Data Cards that could be easily plugged into communication devices, but now the company has altered it's plan. The data services offering will be priced as low as 1 GB at Rs. 10 - nearly one tenth of the current 3G prices.

Reliance Industries entered the mobile broadband sector by purchasing 95% in Infotel. Infotel was a successful bidder in 22 circles of Broadband wireless Access(BWA) 4G Spectrum conducted by the Dot in June 2010. Infotel is the only company to have pan India spectrum to offer Wireless broadband Services in 4G technology. Reliance hopes that with this move they can provide 4G services at a economical rates in our country. By providing 4G services at economical prices such as 3500, it can easily render 3G services obsolete.
